`devx._frame_stack.hide_runtime_frames()`/`api_frame()`.
- `platformdirs` -> fn-local in `runtime._state.get_rt_dir()`.

- `pdbp` via `devx.debug._repl` class-bases

string-match refs to the variant-1 backend so user-visible gates

`set_runtime_vars(get_runtime_vars(clear_values=True))`.

- extract initial values into a module-level
`_RUNTIME_VARS_DEFAULTS: dict[str, Any]` constant; the
live `_runtime_vars` is now initialised from

kwarg. When True, returns a fresh copy of
`_RUNTIME_VARS_DEFAULTS` instead of the live dict —

atomic replacement of the live dict's contents via
`.clear()` + `.update()`, so existing references to the
